If you live in Narragansett, North Kingstown, or Jamestown:
You don’t have to do anything. They will accept a list from the school of the students name, address, grade and phone number. If you have a PO Box, please make sure we have your physical address on file.

If you live in Exeter–West Greenwich, or the district of Chariho:
Your town is participating in the Statewide Transportation System. Please note the following is information from the state:

Students from participating school districts who are eligible to use the statewide transportation system next year may request transportation through the statewide website at:

http://www.ride.ri.gov/Finance/Transportation/default.aspx

The website is now open to take transportation requests for the fall. We are asking parents to register for transportation directly through our website. If you have problems with the website or do not have access to a computer, please call the statewide office at 401-222-5024. Student lists and route information will be available to schools upon request.

Here are key dates and points of information:

·        The deadline for transportation requests is July 31, 2011. Transportation request forms submitted after July 31st will receive the closest point of pick up or a depot stop location for a temporary bus stop.
·         For registrations received after July 31st, students will receive their permanent bus stop information by September 12, 2011.
·         Bus route and stop time information will be mailed out mid August.
·         Pre-Kindergarten students are not eligible for transportation.
·         Parents who are new to the statewide system will receive a letter with information about the system shortly after their request is submitted.
·         In order to keep ride times within reasonable limits, bus stops which are used infrequently, less than once a week will be deactivated and students will be assigned to the nearest active bus stop.
·        The historic transportation regions established by law are still in place which means that transportation will only be provided within regional boundaries.
